April 2, 2019 - Both grade 7 and 8 continue to develop their typing skills using ATRT and their math fact speed and accuracy using Xtra Math. Grade 7 students have been assigned an exploratory project of their choice with the microbits this week. Grade 8 students are using tech time this week to work on their science class viscosity projects.
Having fun on our last day with Mrs. Obach working to program robots.
December 10 - We will be doing regular tech activities until the Christmas break. These include XtraMath, ATRT and Coding Courses on code.org.
December 4-7 This week we have started coding the micro:bits that we got from KidsCodeJeunesse. We will also have our code a thon on Friday. Today (Dec 5) the 7's got together with the 2's to solidify their expertise as hosts.
November 21 - We are currently working on Xtra Math, All the Right Type, and Coding in our tech classes.
The students worked with Mrs. Obach on November 12. Unfortunately, I was at home with a sick daughter, so I was not able to get any pictures of the robotics. :(
The grade 7 class will be cohosting a codathon at our school on December 7. We will be working with coding starting in November.
Today, we booked time with Mrs. Obach to work with the division robots. This will happen on November 12. One hour for each grade.
October 4 - Currently our technology class focuses on three areas:
1.) practicing mental math facts using xtramath.org 2.) learning to type and improving our wpm with All the Right Type 3.) connect globally through technology within Global Read Aloud 2018. We sometimes use our tech time to publish work from other classes too. For example: We have been using an online app to create study sets for science in both grade 7 and 8. If students do not get their work typed in class or for homework, they sometimes have time to publish in technology class. |
